WordPress NewsBox Theme Released

The WordPress NewsBox theme is a super customizable, fairly configurable WordPress Theme. Modeled after several news portals, NewsBox is designed to be light on style and heavy on features and customization. At the heart of NewsBox’s customization and configuration capabilities is the included config.php file. This file is full of helpful comments which painlessly guide you through setting up the theme’s colors and categories. There is no need to load any plugins or make changes to the themes files. NewsBox is able to high-lite author comments, display multiple groups of post listings (arranged by category), […]

Wordpress 2.5 Admin Area Too Small For Larger Resolution Monitors

One of my major gripes about the new WordPress 2.5 administration area was its lack of support for larger resolutions monitors. The header and footer areas of the WordPress admin panel had no set max-width and would, therefore, stretch to fill up wide screen and large resolution monitors. Unfortunately, the center content area, where 95% of all WordPress work gets done, was set not to exceed 1024 pixels wide. Why? I have no idea, but for a wide screen, large resolution monitor like the one I use at home the 1024 limit leaves close to 680 pixels […]

Manage Your Blog Post Ideas With This WordPress Plugin

I wrote this WordPress plug-in a few months ago because I was tired of using Google Docs and WordPress drafts to manage all the ideas I had for future posts or articles. This WordPress 2.5 compatible plugin, once activated, will create a “Post Ideas” menu item under the “Manage” admin area. From this area you can add, sort, edit and delete any article or post ideas you may have swirling around up in your head.
Post Ideas allows you to enter the working title of the post, some keywords you may wish to target, links you may be […]

Native WordPress Coming to the iPhone. . .Probably

Minor news outlets and bloggers have been posting up a storm today talking about native WordPress support on the iPhone. It started a few days ago when a video was released of head WordPress’er Matt Mullenwag discussing the future of WordPress. In the presentation (which I believe was given at WordCamp Dallas) Matt mentioned many interesting things about WordPress’ future. He talked about WordPress core file integrity checking, increased usability testing and native support for WordPress on mobile devices. While Matt never mentioned that WordPress is coming to the iPhone, he did state WordPress was coming to a mobile […]

Why CushyCMS Will Not Replace WordPress

Early yesterday morning I got a beta account for the upcoming release of CushyCMS, a new content management system developed by the BugMeNot people. By their own statement CushyCMS is a new type of content management service that aims to simplify online content editing rather than replace juggernauts likes WordPress and Joomla.
What CuhsyCMS is Not
If you want to understand CushyCMS you must first learn what it’s not. CushyCMS is not a self hosted script or service. All editing functions are carried out through the CushyCMS site. Additionally, CushyCMS is not generally for creating content, rather, it’s intended more for […]
